Around 70% of pharmacists work in the community, on local high streets all over the country. Community pharmacies are easily accessible – 99% of the population can get to a pharmacy within 20 minutes by car and 96% by walking or using public transport.
There are 13,000 community pharmacies in Great Britain. There is no need to make an appointment to see a community pharmacist, and you can talk them in confidence. The vast majority of community pharmacies now have a private consulting area so you won’t be overheard – just ask to speak to the pharmacist in private.
Community pharmacists offer a range of services including Medicine Use Reviews, stop smoking services, repeat dispensing and flu vaccinations, among others.
